The Southwest Harbor Planning Board will discuss the following land use standards:
a. Increase lot coverage in Zone B
b. Reduce setback requirements in Zone B
c. Central septic systems serving three or more dwelling to be considered a public utility for purposes of minimum lot size and coverage.
d. 30’ structure height for single family structures in shore land e. Allow seasonal cottages in Harbor, Maritime and Zone A with less than six months occupancy to contain full kitchens and not be considered a dwelling unit for purposes of land area requirements.
f. Reduce minimum dwelling size from 500 s/f to 300 s/f
g. Increase minimum structure height

Town of Trenton

LAND USE ORDINANCE CHANGE

The Board of Selectmen and Planning Board of the Town of Trenton will hold a public hearing on February 28, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. to take comments on the removal of the Permit Required explanation of the Trenton Land Use Ordinance in Article IV.1 General Standards Section 4.1.26 as follows:
Permit Required:

No person shall sell or offer for sale personal property from any residential premises except as permitted by this article. Agricultural products are not considered personal property and not included in this ordinance, therefore not permitted to be sold at or in conjunction with the garage sale. Only the sale of donated personal property and the sale of personal property owned, used and maintained for personal use only by the seller, and not for resale to the public shall be sold from residential premises, and only after issuance to the seller of a permit for such purposes, as follows:
A. A permit may be obtained from the Trenton Town Office. The fee for a permit shall be paid in accordance with the business fee schedule as established by the Board of Selectmen.
B. Permit shall be issued for sales of personal property upon residential premises and not a commercial property, unless the commercial property is also the seller’s primary residence. The permit shall be for a period of no more than three consecutive days, and no more than three permits shall be issued for any one location in any twelve month period. Permits required under this article shall be on forms furnished by the Town of Trenton. Two or more people may hold a garage sale jointly at one location upon obtaining a single permit. The person who resides at the location where the garage sale is held shall be listed as the applicant and it will be considered a neighborhood garage sale.

Notice of a public hearing for the proposed amendments to the Mount Desert Land Use Ordinance and Official Land Use Map

This is to notify the public, under the requirements of the Mount Desert Land Use Ordinance Section 2.7 (1), that the Mount Desert Planning Board will hold a public hearing on amendments to the Town’s Land Use Zoning Ordinance and Official Land Use Map.

The purpose of the public hearing is to:

A. Review additional changes to the general provisions of the Land Use Ordinance.

B. Review proposed amendments to the Official Land Use Map.

C. Review proposed amendment to the Sale of Food and Merchandise Ordinance.

The public hearing will be held at 6:00 PM on March 8, 2017. The meeting will be held at the Town Hall Meeting Room, 21 Sea Street, in Northeast Harbor.

The Town of Mount Desert will hold a Selectmen’s Meeting on February 21, 2017 in the Meeting House at the Mount Desert Town Office on 21 Sea Street in Northeast Harbor, Maine to consider authorization for the issuance of bonds of the Town in a principal amount not to exceed $150,000.00 to finance professional, technical and construction services associated with improvements to the Town’s street lights. The proposal is to construct two commercial buildings totaling 16,696 square feet on an 1.8-acre parcel located at 208 High Street, currently developed as an automotive dealership (Tax Map/Lot: 131/47) in the Urban Zone. Building A – 9,400 square feet is proposed to encompass a fast food restaurant, barbershop, retail store, and medical/dental office and building B – is proposed to encompass a retail store.

5. Final Plan for a Major Use Site Development Plan and Major Subdivision Plan titled 50 Church Street for Stephen Curtain. The proposal is to convert the existing building and to construct an addition, a total of 6,108 SF, for the use of professional offices, a residential apartment, a yoga studio, and a café on a 1.26-acre parcel located at 50 Church Street (Tax Map/Lot: 136/166) in the Downtown Zone.

FY18 Budget Hearing
Town of Bar Harbor

The Bar Harbor Town Council has tentatively adopted a budget for the fiscal year starting July 1, 2017 and will hold a public hearing at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in the Council Chambers on the third floor of the Municipal Building. The total budget appropriations are estimated at $24,852,061, which will increase tax rates approximately 2.1%. The Bar Harbor Town Council invites and encourages your attendance at this very important hearing. The proposed budget is available for review in both the Town Clerk’s Office, the Jesup Memorial Library, and the Town’s website after February 13.

Town of Sorrento

The Town of Sorrento will hold a public hearing to review a renewal application by Guyette’s Inc., 19 Walter’s Drive, Sorrento, Maine, for a junkyard permit. The hearing will be held on February 15 at 6:30p.m. in the Selectmen’s Office at the Sorrento Town Hall. Any member of the public may address the hearing regarding the permit application.
